Beginning my career in 1991 as a Graphic Designer, I plunged right in to learning all I could about this new technology of Interactive Multimedia. It offered me a way to create designs and modify them quickly. I thought, "Hey! This is much better than working with a mechanical. This lead me to work with such technologies as: CD-I, Amiga Toaster, Macintosh, Hypercard, and Macromedia Director. My early experience with these so to speak "cutting edge" technologies consumed me. I was hooked! To be able to create digital designs and alter them on the fly was intoxicating for me.
I began to seek out companies that offered me the opportunities to utilize my skills as a Graphic Designer and embrace this new technology. This lead me to a company called, Interactive By Design. Here I was provided tools that allowed me to express my creativity in the digital realm. While working here, I began to pick up clients on the side. One client, the brother-in-law of the owner of Interactive By Design, asked for me to design a logo for his business. Of course, I jumped at the chance! This is where the name of my business took shape. It was around 1992, or so. I thought about entering a few of my designs to the ADDY® Awards, with the encouragement of my current employer, and my logo client. Upon filling out the ADDY entry form, I just realized, I need a company name. Well, after some thought, thinking I would not win anyway, I decided on the nickname I was bestowed while in the USAF, Konehead. So, Konehead Graphics was born. Funny thing, I actually won for the Logo/Stationary design! Ha!
